Almost every old town in the West has stories to tell about when it was young and wild. Florence is no exception with tales from the early wildcat oil drillers, railroad gandy-dancers, trail drive cowboys and the fearless miners. Some drifted through but some stayed on to build our great little town.
The stories remain, along with pieces of the time and keepsakes of history. The Florence Pioneer Museum covets it's collection of early day memorabilia and offers it's display for those who want to look back to the 'Glory Days' of Florence.
Located in a historic building, the museum is run by volunteers who welcome you to browse or can assist you in a specific search.
Enjoy looking into early day households, school rooms and even a doctor's office. Explore narrow gauge railroad history and check out the oil and mining exhibits. Displays of guns, saddles and wagons will stir your interest in the taming of the old West and the part Florence played along the way.
